If your company has both Product Managers and Digital Product Managers, what is the core difference between them and do both need to exist?

Product Managers can work on a physical product, like a power drill or vacuum cleaner, or a digital product.  Digital Product Managers work only on digital products.  The only reason that I can see to specifically separate them is at a company like Ring doorbell.  There are physical products, such as the doorbell and cameras, and then there is a digital component with the app and the online community of your neighbors.

I agree with  and his potential reasons for this. Another reason I've seen is that the product manager is more aligned with the business success of the product (sales, profitability, GTM) while the digital PM is more tightly focused on the user experience and/or online conversion metrics for a digital product.
