As executives, we must ensure that our organizations have policies on how to use AI within the organization. There are still a lot of concerns about intellectual property privacy since AI is pulling information across many sources on the Internet to give you a response, and the copyright laws concerning AI are unclear. Since so much is still unknown, we, as executives, must implement the right guiding framework for our organization. I've spoken to many peers who are putting a temporary pause on AI use altogether at their org while they work to understand its complexities. Next, executives should evaluate where opportunities for automation lie. Think of the best strategic way to use Gen AI to deliver value to your business. Ask yourself, how do I automate repetitive steps, or what tasks take a lot of time and work?
Lastly, don’t be afraid to try and encourage innovation. We’ve been using Gen AI in the supply chain space for quite some time, whether for predictive analysis, data accuracy, etc., so think about where the best place is to leverage Gen AI to suit your business needs. AI is not going away; we just have to figure out the right way to leverage it to best suit our business needs.
