For our ERG leadership roles (voluntary, in addition to their normal day-to-day job duties) we try to keep the tenure to about 1 year to A. prevent burnout and B. give others an opportunity to step into a leadership role if they would like the opportunity.

We don't work with tenures, a council with us is something that is voluntary and put in place to co-design and co-create, if people want to leave we just ask them to think about someone else from their team or region who can step in. Nothing forced or mandatory.
