Our approach to DE&I has changed significantly. It was standalone, it wasn't embedded, but we have now embedded it. We have moved away from a global council, and embedded it in our talent group and metrics. Our key focus areas over the next 12 months include redefining what it means to be a leader and what those competencies are, and then how we train for those. We're also focusing on our indigenous, creating a stronger framework and strategy internally, and a continual focus on females. We're in the heavy equipment industry, which is a very male-dominated industry. We have a skill shortage in Canada and across the world of heavy equipment technicians, and so we know there's an underrepresentation of females and other groups. We will be focusing on how to grow representation in these two groups.Director of HR7 months ago
With the acquisition and integration of other banks, we're recognizing where each organization is on the DE&I journey and figuring out where we want to converge. We're focusing on baselining our metrics, maturing our metrics, and expanding our global footprint. We're also focusing on our business resource groups, which have focused on networking and building community – and can also drive positive business impact, whether it's on talent and recruitment, professional development, leadership development, or being out in the market with prospective clients and communities.Director of HR in Banking7 months ago
Prior to the merging of SVB and FCB, we had just started to restore the business resource groups. I believe they have added a couple more recently. It’s just starting to take off and be organized from that perspective. I believe the biggest change came with the addition of Silicon Valley Bank, which created a separate DE&I group. This helped to spearhead and champion the effort, and really drive the strategy of the organization. Our focus for the next year, probably more than one year, is to deepen the knowledge and acceptance of this strategy.
