What is your first impression of Meta's Threads? Is it better than Twitter and other alternatives? Why, or why not, do you think?

Threads has a lot of potential. But it also has a number of challenges too. Users need the ability o build a community of their followers and interests. Right now, Threads doesn't have a clean way to do that or to manage the feed. There is also the close tie to Instagram which many use for personal use versus Threads for professional use (like Twitter). Lastly, Threads needs a web interface. It is challenging to have meaningful conversations through text-like interfaces using a mobile device.Managing Partner in Miscellaneousa year ago

I feel that both platforms are designed for short-form messages and public conversations. Threads needs the hashtagging capabilities to filter/categorize interesting threads to follow and truly compete with Twitter.Chief Information Officer in IT Servicesa year ago
The same but different. Twitter can be excellent with great links to super content and some concise expert thinking. It can also be a sewer where the worst of personkind hunts and preys on the unsuspecting tweeter. Threads is where folks are feeling things out. They are being kind and gentle and seeing what sits. How long that will last time will tell. I did a research poll recently asking how many thought Threads would over take Twitter and 81% said it would NOT.
- there are privacy concerns - given Facebook (Meta) is connected to Instagram and now Thread is too.
- if someone wants to get off Threads for whatever reason, they would need to delete their instagram account as well. Threads & Insta go together.
