In my experience, generative AI has brought about transformative changes in strategic marketing. I've used it effectively for vision creation, where it generates innovative ideas and visual concepts that resonate with our brand's identity, enhancing our storytelling. When analyzing competitors' strengths and weaknesses, I've found AI incredibly useful for processing large datasets quickly, providing insightful competitive intelligence. For go-to-market tactics, it's been instrumental in simulating different market scenarios, helping me to develop more effective strategies. Additionally, in understanding the vertical industry value chains, AI has helped me identify key stakeholders and processes, offering a comprehensive perspective that's vital for crafting targeted approaches. The ability of generative AI to process and generate vast amounts of data rapidly and creatively has been invaluable in my strategic marketing endeavors.

I’d be interested in hearing which tools you are using to do this?

We use AI to help generate images for social media. It is a lot of work ad has such a short shelf life that it's easier to use AI to create graphics for us. We have also started to use AI chatbots on our website to answer questions that we get frequently.

AI is very helpful as a sparring partner if you want to check how people choose products or services in your industry and how your brand is positioned in this funnel

Generative AI is a powerful tool at all stages of strategic marketing, from vision creation to competitive analysis and go-to-market strategies. However, it's important to remember that AI is a tool to augment human decision-making, not replace it. The principle of "garbage in, garbage out" holds. AI outputs are only as good as the inputs they receive. Marketers must remain actively engaged, applying their expertise to guide AI applications and interpret their results effectively.

We're using AI in many areas. Your vendor listing here is helpful. The rest is a good primer, but I think leaders really need to dig into problems that can be solved beyond writing prompt examples. There is enough maturity, in my experience, to go far beyond this. I wouldn't prioritize usage or testing based on this article. Understanding specific potential related to team pain changes that. SEO scale/effectiveness and the methodologies/processes that can improve as a result of using AI is an example. Understanding how it fits in to bigger channel strategies is a missing level. I understand if the confidence is not there to add it on an analyst level. It would be nice to understand how people are innovating couched as research. The value for us has come in identifying primary marketing channel blockers and how to leverage specific AI tools in an iterative, integrated fashion to accomplish an end goal.
