There are a number of ethical and other relevant considerations. From the perspective of human decisionmaking that may be influenced by AI recommendations, an organization should have mechanisms in place to capture, aggregate, and analyze the extent to which ultimate decisions align or deviate from AI recommendations. The AI solution itself should be designed in a manner that will enable compliance with relevant laws and regulations, appropriately protect and safeguard information, and align with organizational policies, procedures, and practices for the activity or task being performed by AI. From the perspective of the AI itself, including to the extent decisions are being made directly by or through AI, there are a number of potential risks or concerns: level of consistency and repeatability of recommendations, whether decisions or recommendations vary due to personal characteristics (i.e., bias), and overall accuracy of recommendations. In addition, to the extent not all decisions are informed by or tied to an AI-based recommendation in a given process (e.g., if a manual review is then triggered), whether that itself may indicate potential bias or other concerns (e.g., if using AI for underwriting of loans and the number of applications requiring manual review is significantly greater or more likely for a certain class of applicants).

AI is already shaping human behavior in various aspects of life. Its pervasive presence extends to our work, business practices, mental health support with AI-driven patient recommendations, and even in the realm of dating apps. From ordering food to assisting in meal preparation, AI's influence is ubiquitous.
