network, network, network! People are more willing to help than most realize! Founder | CEO in Services (non-Government)a year ago
Def like Amelia says here the best thing one can do is network! Find folks within target companies. get to know them, and understand the world they live in every day. Reach out to folks and see where they could make intros, or keep an eye out for you on listings. Its a game changer and will speed up the search tremendously

The best return on investment is the one you make in yourself. Learning new skills after a layoff will help not only in the next job search, but also help in building your own confidence.Founder in Services (non-Government)a year ago
I agree with Amelia Taylor. Others may not realize you lost your job and why. --and if you want a new job, wanted to "lose" that job or just need a break, so people will help if you ask. Sr. Director of Sales Operations in Hardwarea year ago
Looking for a job is simply selling your own skills! Many of the same skills a sales rep has from their sales experience will apply to finding a new job. Some of these skills include investing in your own growth, ensuring you have a robust personal presence online, building relationships with people and gaining their trust (networking!), and talking with many companies. Also, don't waste any of the shots you take because any interaction may be the one that will lead to a new role! Always give it your best. Do your homework on the industry, role, company, and hiring team and convince them that they cannot afford to pass you up!
