Getting buy-in on the cost.

I think that the most difficult part is the data element of it. Most organizations are fairly comfortable adding the new solution itself but aren’t as prepared for the ongoing data maintenance and integration it’ll require. We see this especially in SaaS products — everything seems done in the beginning, but there’s routine hygiene that you have to account for, like managing user access, deactivating offboarded accounts, etc. A lot of organizations are still tripping themselves up as they’re planning for Day One, but they’re not planning for Day Two.

There are difficulties at different levels; The level of readiness for adopting new technologies varies across teams within the organization, as not all teams possess the necessary culture and willingness to embrace change. Another significant part is the cost associated with replacing old technologies and introducing new ones. In some cases, this cost comparison against the return on investment (ROI) is straightforward, while in other instances, it necessitates evaluating indirect benefits to validate the investment and maintain a competitive edge in the ever-evolving landscape of technology.
