As a buzzword, it’s on life support.CIO in Educationa year ago
It never came to life in the first place. Always was a solution looking for a problem. Everyone just sat back waiting for Meta to produce something worthy of the massive hype and the investment and they never delivered anything compelling or useful. Even their own employee's were not interested. This so remands me of the 3D Tv's that were supposed to be the next evolution of home entertainment. Meta burned the equivalent of a small country's GDP before giving up. Senior IT Manager in Governmenta year ago
The metaverse isn't dead, neither is it alive and thriving in it's current form. I'm sure *something* will come along in the next 5 years that will be dubbed "the metaverse" by those who care about such things. They will then declare victory and move on to whatever's after that. What that something will end up looking like is anyone's guess. CIO in Softwarea year ago
The... what? 😅Director Certifications in Educationa year ago
No the Metaverse is not dead, it is just slowed and not progressing as was predicted. As businesses incorporate virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) into their services and products, it will help consumers examine products/services within the digital space before deciding whether to purchase or not.

It's all about the use case. Shopping experience is a good one. Pokemon Go was an entertainment model. Virtual conferences, like Hopin or vFair are a good use cases that support vendor and peer interactions/networking in a virtual conference.
What are the other VR/AR experiences it would improve? What are compelling smart city / mobility use cases? Social use cases? Decision augmentation use cases?
This may be worth a new string..
