What are your thoughts on prescriptive hybrid working models?

We're trying to be very prescriptive of how the hybrid model is going to work Monday to Thursday. We’re working on a mental model before we even start doing it. But we will need some time to get a rhythm going in terms of which groups will be in the office on which days. We tried it last summer and went back to the office for a couple weeks, but then the Omicron variant hit, so we went back home. CISO in Software2 years ago
I worry about the prescriptive model a bit, and wonder how people will feel about a blanket policy that the whole business will follow those rules. People could feel negative about it if the approach is very authoritative.CIO in Finance (non-banking)2 years ago
It depends where you are in your career and with your team. Depending on the size and culture of the company, sometimes you do need to be prescriptive because no one will come in if you aren’t. In venture capital, you can’t really work from home and have a co-founder or CEO just dial in. It’s a face-to-face conversation. It's already awkward enough to place big bets on companies, so it depends on where you are and how your business runs. There are some roles, like the front office staff, for which people have to be in the office.
