Is there still value in implementing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and if so where would it be most useful? If you have any cost/benefit implications please share!

In public-sector healthcare, I use automation in all the traditional corporate areas (workforce & HR, finance, IT, payroll, etc) but excel at automating complex clinical pathways such as cancer two-week waits, patient appointment scheduling, and clinical diagnostics.  The biggest challenge across the NHS is the amount of excess bot capacity across all the key vendors (uipath, AA and blueprism) that increases the total cost of ownership and puts unnecessary pressure on securing a rapid ROI.

I see its value as a first step in moving towards automation. So when moving from paper-based to digital systems, it's often too costly to start with custom solution right away. I see RPA as an interim step.
