The success of a transformation initiative often rests on your management and leadership style. You need to empower and support your people. A lot of times it comes down to listening. People can feel overwhelmed, so you need to help them figure out what is urgent versus important. We need to help them find that balance and support them with time management. We have to be very clear on the deliverables that we want from people, especially when working from home. We’re not with people in the office to see what they're working on, so we need to develop other ways to manage how they're progressing on deliverables, and how we measure performance in an organization. It’s essential that our teams understand how we do that. There's always a pile of work to be done in IT, so you have to help them figure out what they need to get done today and what can wait until tomorrow.

Not everyone is good at dealing with change, so transparent communication is important. Going forward, those who are comfortable with change will be top performers in almost any organization because change is accelerating. But we have to make sure that we're supporting the people that aren't as comfortable with it, and help them manage the stress that comes along with such changes.

The main skill is the ability to communicate a vision. Many leaders say they want transformation but are unable to convey a solid idea of what that means to their teams.

Patience also goes a long way. 🙂

I would say it requires a number of soft skills to ensure a success transformation initiatives, such as social skills, clear communication, and interpersonal skills.

You have to endure that employees understand the benefits of the transformation and what is it in for them and the how the transformation will help the company to be more successful.
