Quality control is one of the most critical aspects of IT outsourcing. When tasks or projects are handed over to an external team, maintaining the desired level of quality can be a challenge due to different working methods, expertise levels, and understanding of quality standards. The outsourced team might also be unfamiliar with the specific requirements and nuances of your business, leading to potential gaps in quality.

To address these challenges, it is crucial to implement a comprehensive quality control strategy based on detailed requirements, where you clearly outline the technical specifications, performance criteria, and functional requirements in the contract. Quality metrics are crucial for such teams. Establish specific, measurable quality metrics. For example, for software development, metrics could include code quality standards, defect density, and response times for bug fixes.

Another point worth to mention is periodic reviews. Scheduling regular reviews and checkpoints throughout the project lifecycle will drastically benefit both parties. This can be done through weekly or bi-weekly meetings where progress is discussed, and any issues are addressed.

And the last, but not least is providing access to tools and resources. Ensure the outsourced team has access to the same tools and resources used by your in-house team. This can include project management software, development environments, and testing tools.

By taking these proactive steps, you can ensure that the quality of work delivered by the outsourced team meets your standards and contributes to the success of your project.

I have encountered issues regarding miscommunication and a lack of understanding of the business priorities. It's very important to integrate external team members into regular meetings and shared project management tools, in addition to providing initial (and ongoing) guidance on business context, clear deadlines, identifying high-priority leadership, and addressing expected response times on communications.
