One area where data narratives have been particularly effective is in the realm of compliance. Organizations are keen to avoid risk and data analytics can play a crucial role in demonstrating how to bolster resilience and mitigate risk. This can be achieved through various means, including cybersecurity and IT operations. It's important to understand your ecosystem and know what needs to be measured. This isn't a new science, but it does require a blend of art and science. The right storyteller is key to articulating the insights gleaned from the metrics. It requires a particular persona to effectively translate IT matters to business stakeholders.SVP, Data & Insights2 months ago
Recently, it's been easier due to the buzz around generative AI and modern LM solutions. In the financial services industry, we're seeing excitement from senior management about pushing data governance and foundational work forward to enable more advanced machine learning and AI solutions. Compared to 10 years ago, conversations around showcasing the ROI of data governance, data architecture, and data quality are easier now. The trend and conversation around generative AI make these ROI conversations easier. It's also about showing that foundational initiatives are required to get to your roadmap of more modern and value-added AI and machine learning use cases. While there's still an effort required to convince and secure funding for these usually expensive solutions, I believe it's easier these days. There's more interest and appetite from senior managers to build what's required for this journey. But with this easier conversation and funding, also comes stronger pressure for results. The industry is moving towards generative AI, and there's pressure to see results and keep up with peers.
