What's your experience with corporate phones? Is this something employees want/need?

We tried BYOD. It was a failure. Mostly due to our corporate culture. A few people did volunteer for BYOD but it replaced less than 4% of the pool of devices. I think it can work but it will depend more on your culture than your technology.

PM me if you want to discuss.

Bottom line if you provide good benefits to your employees they might be willing to subsidize the cost of you being able to reach them 7x24 at their own expense

And I always used a corporate phone myself, and have never BYOD my phone, computer or tablet.

We use a few brands for phones and provide each employee with a physical phone as well as a softphone. Still, our support center prefers using physical phones and headsets but we are seeing other teams be more open to just using the soft phones or communicating via Teams/Zoom.

From my experience they don't need. It's easier to have employees install apps on their personal phones than having to carry two phones.

Corporate phones is somewhat "old school"

I work in healthcare and it is our normal practice to provide corporate phones for those who need them.  That said, we are gradually moving to BYOD and providing a subsidy for personal owned phones.

Employees generally don’t want a work cell phone but rather some form of compensation for using their personal device for work. It’s much easier to have them deal with their own phone otherwise if you are in a situation that benefits from issuing a device, a MDM is a must.
