I'm ready to try a new role. What's the next move after CIO?

CIO in a different vertical if you haven’t before - or join a couple boards to give you something fresh until you are able to make the one you want.CEO in Services (non-Government)2 years ago
Many CIOs are trying combined roles - for example CIO + CDO (Chief Digital officer). American Airlines just hired a CIO to be their CIO + CDO. Other CIOs are becoming CIO in different industry, to learn how IT helps businesses in different industry. I went from CIO in a high-tech company to a beauty company. Trust me retail IT is much different than a high-tech IT.
Of course, joining a board (like suggested before) will also give you a flavor of other industries.

For the many transformational and inspirational CIOs, they have gravitated towards both public and private boards. No more Monday scaries!CIO in Education2 years ago
It depends. Can be COO, can be CIDO. You might even decide to go on your own as a CEO of your own business.Co-Founder in Services (non-Government)2 years ago
Consulting services can be an option.
