How are you considering the use of Gen AI and or its controlled use within a legal professional environment, e.g? I see so many perspectives on this ranging from open use to outright ban and everything in between.

We have implemented a block across the board with the ability to enter a request to use any AI models. Once a request is entered, we are performing reviews on the AI and vendor. What we have noticed is that in many cases, the data travels to more places than originally thought. Director of Legal in Software6 months ago
Outright banning it is delaying the inevitable. A better and more pragmatic approach is to a) choose what solutions to use (based on factors like intended use cases and training models that the solution relies on) and to understand and acknowledge the imperfections of all of these tools. Additionally, understanding how and where data flows to and why is important. The common problem I see is too many generalize about Gen AI believing all solutions are the same and use the same data when this is not the case. There are many good solutions trained on legal data sets and many that are not. Context matters here.Director of Operations and General Counsel in Manufacturing6 months ago
To be sure, I agree with . Generative AI is a tool, and the risks and benefits and proper use of any tool should be carefully weighed and managed prior to implementation. I see no reason to ban the use of any technology that can be used wisely and well. If anything, policies should be drafted to help guide appropriate use, validation, etc.
