We have all of it, excel spreadsheets, remedy tickets, and run book for our SAP business and Power BI is a very utilized tool on top of these data sources that can provide analytics on how we are performing. Data Manager8 months ago
We use Power BI for visualization and data exploration, Alteryx for tests that output long lists of results, Python for machine learning algorithms, etc.Start with deciding what kind of analysis you need and looking at the constraints of your environment/business process. Then, pick the best tool for the job.

In my experience, most of the organizations that I have worked with use ERP systems like SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics for managing their general ledger. These systems have built-in reporting and analytical modules. However, if there is a need for customization like interactive dashboards/reports that's when the usage of the PowerBI/Tableau/Qlik/Excel come into play. Having said that it all depends on the organizations budget, data complexity, and desired level of insights needed to drive informed decision-making and foster financial excellence.CIO8 months ago
Most organizations use ERP systems like Oracle, SAP etc. for managing their general ledger transactions. These systems have built-in reporting and analysis features - also called descriptive analytics i.e. what happened (backward-looking). This applies to ERP software's on-prem and cloud versions both. With the latter, it's almost in near real-time and it's getting more predictive as well i.e. what will happen (forward-looking). Most companies also use additional tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, or Excel for additional enterprise-level or department-level BI customizations, like interactive dashboards or reports, which may not be present in the parent ERP system or may need to combine various data sources (outside main ERP) as well as external manual data in excel etc. As with any new software, the choice of such tools depends on factors like budget, data complexity, and the need for insights to support decision-making and financial excellence.
