Not a CISO, just an IAM Director. :)1) Focusing on honing the skills of persuasion and team building.
2) Making simple decision quickly and be able to differentiate them from hard decisions. Perfecting various mental and collaborative techniques that can help with hard "one way" decisions.
3) Dissecting AI tools and technologies to help increase the personal skills in identity security filed.

I am former Gartner Analyst and MQ author, specializes in Security Operations, Endpoint Security, Cloud Security.
I have a few answers:
1) I focus mainly on state and local government and education (SLED) issues as well as people / process / technology solutions.
2) Blogging, speaking (online and in-person) and writing are areas of focus to have maximum impact. So telling good stories has been a growing skill.
3) We all need to be growing in AI skills. Learning and developing GenAI expertise is an up and coming area for me - as I am sure it is for most CISOs.
4) Finally, team-building and focusing on building a lasting legacy that outlives me was my focus as the previous CISO and CSO in Michigan State Government.
