Has anyone in healthcare made the switch from servicenow (full platform capabilities) to Jira? Were you able to realize a cost savings? What functionality does Jira not have that you had with Servicenow? How would you compare the total cost of ownership between the two platforms? (We are an Epic shop and do very limited true internal builds.)

Having used both platforms - I think both have their own pros and cons. ServiceNow is much richer in their functionality but complex to implement. Jira on the other hand is much easier to implement. If you are considering development within the ITSM platform then SNOW is quite advanced with its customisation and development capabilities. Both has good automation capabilities. Depending on your rollout requirements - if you are looking at an enterprise wide platform, SNOW has some excellent features available - but it comes with a high cost. You would definitely saving a lot if you make the switch to Jira.

I agree with the comments from Sonny Shah that they both have their pros/cons. For a large enterprise I find it unlikely you could replace SNOW with Jira - and Jira Align integration and capabilities I would have a lot of questions. First off, ServiceNow is a sophisticated platform with a wide range of capabilities, but the most common use-case for ServiceNow is IT Service management.  

JIRA on the other hand is a requirements management system - essentially a software to track, stories, epics, tasks, etc. as well as requirements for a given system.  JIRA can also help with tracking progress being made on a given project through burn-down charts etc.

Simply put, ServiceNow and JIRA really don't have anything common and are designed for two very different purposes.  ServiceNow has it's requirements capture and tracker functionality, but that is a very small part of the Platform.  JIRA these days is the de-facto requirements tracking solutions.
