It's interesting to see that so many (agree) since the hype cycle and the words that CIOs and CEOs are using and being told... Lean towards a different more AI and GEN AI as the solution and doing it alone.

Having had two service desk project in 36 months with RPA investments not meeting intended impact/outcomes I am less optimistic in this.

In financial work I think RPA investment is lower risk and higher ROI.

In IT typical service desk with less discrete and exhaustive mapped process AND deeper understanding of month total transactions. Tough.

The external auditing and regulatory demands force financial work to be deeply standardized, centralized, and defined. Also occasionally ISO certified. This makes RPA easier and lower cost ROI as the ecosystem is already pristine.

However in IT service desk we are still decentralized. Even going after our largest with 20k-30k interactions, incident, tasks, or changes a month. Tough.

I'd focus on relevance here, before focusing on the how. But in general, agreed....just the context is so important that it cannot be omitted.

All the terms used are part of a digital organization, and maybe enablers. However they are not key to the successful integration of GenAI [ai is a catch all aand buzz word].

I have been recently joined the IBM TechXchange Summit in Barcelona and one of the message was: GenAI is nothing without Automation

If you have a full Gartner license, they have a benchmarking tool that maps out to your industry.  It was useful for my needs.
