The substantial shift towards remote work is causing a loss of tribal knowledge, which could have a detrimental impact on the upcoming generation. Similar to the adverse effects on social skills observed in middle school students, we are likely to witness a decline in intellectual and industry knowledge that is typically gained from being immersed in a physical work environment. While a balanced approach to remote work is advisable, a complete shift towards working from home may not be the optimal solution. Speaking from personal experience, as an extrovert, the lack of social interaction had a significant impact on my mental health, and I had to invest in a co-working space to mitigate its effects. Therefore, it is crucial to evaluate the potential long-term consequences of a work from home model and strike a balance that benefits both the organization and the employees.
