Voice over IP (VoIP)
About this topic
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is based on an IP standard that is capable of transporting voice and data packets over the same network. Unlike circuit-switched networks, IP doesn’t require a dedicated connection for an entire call. VoIP services can be deployed over the Internet or private IP networks (LAN/WLAN).
