We are using ESRI for GIS applications and have been for decades. The software is baked into a lot of our processes but aren't feeling the love any longer from the vendor. We have perpetual licenses that are going end of life and going to have to move to subscription based applications and aren't very excited about where our costs are headed. I could not find anything in the market guides for alternatives to ESRI software. Is anyone using an alternate software suite that provides the same basic functionality?

We use Intramaps (a TechOne product). Having said that we are in a similar situation with our on-premise perpetual licensing has reached its end of life so been asked to move to Cloud. Costs are high so keen to explore the market. ESRI is competitive but to me it’s all about your functional requirements. If your current platform meets the needs of the organisation then maybe worth staying where you are.Executive Director of Technology in Healthcare and Biotech7 months ago
While evaluating all our options, we encountered similar challenges and ultimately decided to develop our own suite using Leaflet.js as the foundation. Integrating our data sources and real-time analytics into this package was surprisingly straightforward. This approach has provided us with a significant degree of control compared to commercial products. Additionally, it has been free of charge since its implementation, and our users appreciate the ability to customize their views and map out their desired information. However, this solution requires a developer for its creation and slightly increases our technical debt. The cost savings, enhanced control, and flexibility have proven to be highly beneficial either way for us. For reference we are in the healthcare sector, and considerable number of data points passing through our systems. Leaflet was able to handle it all no problem.
