There is a lot out there about the benefits of SmartSheet. In our shop we are seeing license management as a concern.  What challenges are others having?

You are right about the benefits of SmartSheet. We too had the issue with license management. The other issue we ran into was supporting departments who had taken SmartSheet to a complex level with embedded functions and process flows that had grown outside of their talents or the original creators had left the company.

We outlined acceptable uses for SmartSheets and got ahead of the wild, wild west scenario and it's working well for us!

We had people using it to store information that should have been stored in enterprise-wide systems, but Smartsheet was faster and more convenient for their needs.

Unlike , we did not get ahead of the wild, wild west and are dealing with similar scenarios as others - users storing data in it that belongs in other systems, creation of forms (because it is easy) and capturing data that requires a  higher level of security, etc. Lots of sprawl. We are in the process of evaluating that right now and trying to reign it in. Licensing is certainly an issue. On the converse, our users really like the project management capability better than competitors and heavily leverage that usage.

Not sure on comparison, but one of our client is using GE’s Flow Safe Pipeline control system. Seems my point of contacts are happy with it.
