Proactive monitoring of marketplace shifts is absolutely critical. It’s not a digital twin necessarily or a quarterly refresh, but rather a real-time evaluation of supply chain function. A priority here, too, is the cross-functional communication and the speed of that communication, especially as priorities change. Fast communication needs to be there to course correct and ensure that whatever important nuggets of information are being discussed and funneling to the right people to have a healthy discussion.

1. Understand the key macro-environment drivers and leading indicative measures of the marketplaces in which you participate. 
2. Incorporate marketplace conversations as a standard agenda item with your business partners.
