One of our Operating Norms, which are a part of our Global Cultural Tenets, is Obligation to Engage. As a result, we have not had difficulty in getting colleagues to volunteer and participate in these company led programs and activities.Director of HR in Manufacturinga year ago
I look to engage the people. I'm the person who looks for the kid who's sitting against the gym wall because they don't know how to play. I'm playing and I am still doing all the things that I want to do to be a part of an ERG or to be an ally or whatever role that I'm having, but I am also looking for a meaningful way to connect to the person who's sitting on the wall, so they don't feel like everything that I'm doing is just for me. The connection is very different for every person, so it's almost like one human being at a time that you're spending the time to say this is something that's a diversity topic and you may not care about this, and this may mean nothing to you, but here's something really awesome that just happened. If you weren't caring about the topic, you couldn't have been a part of the success that comes from engaging. We all have the responsibility to include one another.
