Specifically for the CISSP, the biggest challenge is a gap between experience required vs. the experience of many folks looking to certify. If you are following the discussions on LinkedIn ISC2 certs less than the higher level ones are - are just common based knowledge. Just because you have a CISSP as an example doesn't mean that you can actually protect the enterprise. With that, having been a CISSP for decades and teaching CISSP prep courses, the biggest challenge is for non-native speakers. The test is daunting and many fumble on non-fully understanding the questions. If you don’t understand the question, you get the answer wrong.
