Is there anything that stands out about your org’s approach to Centers of Excellence (CoEs)? Any must-dos that you’ve found seem to elevate CoE effectiveness?

Thanks for the question.

There is a valid concern in my organization with regards to the establishment of many Center of Excellence. In the past few years, the recommendation from consultancy houses and some research analyst is to establish these centers of excellence teams for cloud, digital, AI, analytics
...etc. The concern was always the growth on the number of CoEs and their governance. In my experience, it is always better to look back at the overall operating model prior to the establishment of these CoEs and revamp existing governing bodies (if possible) to take the roles and responsibility of the CoE.

create well crafter communities of practiced with well support federated COEs (governance, code blocks, best practices, training, coaching, etc. etc.) so that work scales in an organized way.  Ensure COEs focus is aligned to the COEs purpose which should be set squarely against the businesses goals.  Monitor often.
