Opinion Only:From my own experience and dependent upon the industry segment, there are numerous things an individual can do to promote upward mobility. I suggest the following, in no particular order:
1. Be a student of the profession, and stay informed on emerging trends.
2. Improve your technical acumen -- supply chain and technology are becoming more closely intertwined.
3. Strengthen business development and sales knowledge and skills.
4. Enlist the support of a mentor or coach.
5. Know the business you are in -- have strong business acumen and organizational knowledge.
6. Be innovative -- stay ahead of the competition.
