In your opinion, when do you think artificial intelligence (AI) will transform even the C-Suite by creating a brand new role called Chief AI Officer (CAIO)?

There is now at least one law firm with a Chief AI Officer: https://www.law.com/legaltechnews/2023/08/04/michael-bests-new-ai-officer-discusses-new-role-firms-chatgpt-ban-and-more/#:~:text=Earlier%20this%20month%2C%20Michael%20Best,%2Dfocused%20C%2Dsuite%20role.

For every new emerging tech, if we create a CxO designation...there will be no end! Let us treat AI as a tool and align it with the business objectives, please.

I really would not like to see a role like that. We started proliferating the C-level roles to death by now with no real added value for the organisations. Let's keep the C-level focused and add the right level of roles in the organisation as well as the right tools, instead of inflating roles for no reason.
I'd much rather like to see roles below the C-level being valued and recognized for what they are doing, thank leave someone professionally dissatisfied based on an empty C-level role.

Just saw another Chief AI Officer announced today: https://haystackid.com/haystackid-appoints-john-brewer-as-chief-artificial-intelligence-officer/

The extent to which your organisation will evolve to be an “AI company” should guide whether the role is necessary or not. This requires organisations to measure value of AI. Observing the slow speed at which organisations are adopting valuation methods for data assets, complexities in AI systems will make measuring value of AI even harder. With average 30 months tenure in CDAO roles, frustrations in AI projects will see an even worse turnover for CAIO role if it were to be created. Important to note that AI carries huge potential value exploits, so “data and tech” leaders that can articulate and extract maximum value may have a strong business case for this role.
