Office 365 is good, one need to negotiate hard for good pricing though.

O365 is good, but pricey. O365 has better Office productivity apps (powerpoint, etc.). Gdrive vs OneDrive is a tossup. I'd probably favor OneDrive as slightly better. Exchange and Outlook is WAY better than Gmail. Teams is better than Meet and Hangouts for video conferencing, but Teams is terrible for chat/collaboration. Teams is basically a Slack wannabe done poorly. I will say definitively that the security in O365 is way better than Gmail and this was a big driver for us to migrate off Google, BUT MS charges you for this. You get way you pay for I guess.

G-Suite has horrendous insecure runaway permissions. We moved to o365 and never looked back.

That’s an unsubstantiated statement. Permissions and permission control come from good governance.

Office 365 has better functionality etc. Tried to use Google sheets and unfortunately had some issues. So, we stayed on Office 365.

Better functionality is slightly different than the functionality your business wanted.

Office 365 offers a stable, known platform.  Google is fighting to catch up, but hobbled by privacy and security concerns

I’d be interested to see what information was used to back this up?
