I recently visited South Korea with my partner. She rolled her ankle badly on day 2 (Friday) of our trip. On day 3 (Saturday), we took a cab to a clinic. It's impossible to get same day care unless you do virtual (which isn't always an option depending on what's wrong) or go to urgent care/hospital. I tried to schedule an appt with my pcp and the earliest opening was in 3 months. We have two major medical chains in the city with literally hundreds of offices yet getting to see someone is incredibly difficult. The urgent care centers are independent and often have 8 hour waits since people are using them for non urgent care since they can't see their doctor.For example, I tore my rotator cuff. I had to do a virtual appointment, which made no sense because they couldn't examine me. That doctor then sent me to radiology and sent a request for me to see an orthopedic. I had to wait three weeks to see an orthopedic and then another four weeks to see a physical therapist. That was 7 weeks before actually starting treatment. Of course it started to heal wrong during that time.
The actual care I get is great, it's just getting to someone who can provide it that is the challenge.
