In all service, not just CLOUD, it is important to have an EXIT STRAGETY before you sign to start the new service. Your project plan for entering into the new service or application is just as important as the EXIT Strategy, and maybe more important if cost of exit traps you and becomes a large burden to the company.CISO6 months ago
Of course they should take away fees for data egress. When we write enterprise contracts, we always have an exit clause and in that exit clause there must be a requirement for vendor assisted migration to the next vendor or on-premise system. They have to do this and others should follow. IMHO I think it offers a minor advantage while AWS and Azure still continue to charge fees per GB.
That being said, it is a first step in the right direction by one of the big-3, hopefully it doesn't stop there.
